Profile
Based in Cummertree's overlooking
the Solway, we farm a beef unit running around
770 store cattle and finishers. We decided to
develop a pedigree British Blue herd because
“there is nothing better than breeding
your own” and we were impressed at the
Carlisle Belgian Blue Club sales by the quality,
size and carcases produced by modern Blues!
We are a young herd currently
running around 30 pure bred British Blue’s,
with ET implants and frozen embryo’s planned
to build the herd further.
Our first brood cows were
Broomfield Vivien, Annanwater Wispa and Park
Nester. All possess the key traits we are looking
for – size, power and mobility.
2006 was our first year in
the show ring and we were delighted to be runner
up to the Woodview herd for the “Winning
BB Exhibitors” title at the Royal Highland
Show. We were also privileged to be part of
the RHS Belgian Blue Interbreed team that took
top honours exhibiting Annanwater Valerie. She
is a powerful female who we have successfully
flushed. Sired by the famous Affute du Ry Ossogne,
she was sold in-calf to Gitan Du P’Tit
Mayeur, at the March 07 Chelford sale for 4800
guineas.
